KB15459 - How to use msiexec commands to perform a silent Odyssey install, upgrade, and uninstall

Synopsis
There are several msiexec commands which can be used to perform a silent install/uninstall from the CLI, however, special considerations must be taken into account when using these commands with the Odyssey Access Client.
Problem or Goal
Beginning in Odyssey 4.8, the msi installer is actually only a wrapper for the Nullsoft installer which is the application that actually performs the operations.  This can cause unexpected behavior when using standard msiexec commands. One issue in particular would be that you cannot silently upgrade the Odyssey Access Client to OAC 5.1, you must use a "non-interactive" switch.

Note: Odyssey will be moving back to a full MSI starting with our OAC 5.3\UAC 4.1 release which is due to ship in Q1 2011.
Cause
Solution
The following examples will allow you to perform the described actions.

To install OAC silently, with verbose logging, you must use the following command:
msiexec.exe /i "C:\< path to installer >\OdysseyAccessClient5.10.13456.0.msi" /l*v "c:\odyerr.log" /qn

If you wish to script a non-interactive upgrade from OAC 4.8 to OAC 5.X with verbose logging, you will need to use the following command as the silent switch will not work:
msiexec.exe /i "C:\< path to installer >\OdysseyAccessClient5.10.13465.0.msi" /l*v "c:\odyerr.log" /qb

To silently uninstall the application, you would need to use the following command:
uninst.exe /silent=1 /noreboot=1 _?=C:\Program Files\Juniper Networks\Odyssey Access Client
