Synopsis
Installation of PCS client components (such as WSAM, Secure meeting, Network Connect, Host Checker, and Cache Cleaner) fails when McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention System ( HIPS) is installed on the workstation.
Problem or Goal

Receive the following alert when trying to install one of the PCS client components (such as  WSAM, Secure meeting, Network Connect, Host Checker, and Cache Cleaner) :

"Failed to start downloaded application . Please sign in an try again. If the error continues please contact your system administrator."

Cause
Solution

Verify if McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention System ( HIPS) is installed on the workstation.  HIPS, by default blocks, applications using double extension filenames as  shown below:

neoCacheCleanerSetup.exe.cab
neoCBoxSetup.exe.cab
neoCitrixServSetup.exe.cab
neoNCSetup.exe.cab
neoNCSetup64.exe.cab
neoTermServSetup.exe.cab
neoTermServSetupNt.exe.cab
samsetup.exe.cab
samsetupnt.exe.cab
SecureMeetingOutlook.exe.cab

To resolve the issue, temporarily disable the McAfee product
