KB44572 - How to increase the size of the Pulse Desktop client debug log on Windows operating systems

« Go Back

Information

Last Modified Date8/17/2020 3:53 PM
Synopsis
The Pulse Desktop client has a default log size of 20MB. When the debug log labeled 'debuglog.log’ reaches 10MB it is backed up and renamed the debuglog.old then a new debuglog.log is created. When the new debuglog.log reaches 10MB it begins to overwrite the debuglog.old. Often 20MB of logs is sufficient to troubleshoot most issues. In some use cases the client can generate a lot of data in a short amount of time or a problem being troubleshot could be difficult to reproduce and a larger log file is needed.

Cause
Solution
The following registry key can be modified to increase the size of the debuglog.log and the corresponding debuglog.old that is created.
Path:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Pulse Secure\Logging

By increasing the data value for LogSizeInMB you can increase the log size.

We recommend that you do not modify the size of the debug log unless requested to do so by support. As always be careful when modifying any registry keys and take a backup before you begin.
