Synopsis
Error message "Client issued alert number 8488" during EAP/TLS authentication.
Problem or Goal
The Error message "Client issued alert number 8488" in the SBR log file indicates that the Client authentication certificate being presented to SBR during EAP/TLS authentication does not contain a private key.
Cause
Solution
To resolve:
  1. Launch MMC on the Odyssey Client machine and check the "Certificates - Local Computer > Personal > Certificates" folder for the Client certificate (.pfx file).
  2. Then check the "Certificates - Current User > Personal > Certificates" folder for the same Client certificate (.pfx file).
  3. Delete the Client certificate from the "Certificates - Current User > Personal > Certificates" folder
  4. Export the Client certificate from the "Certificates - Local Computer > Personal > Certificates" folder to the desktop making sure to export the private key
  5. Import the Client certificate to the "Certificates - Current User > Personal > Certificates" folder
  6. Save the changes to MMC.
  7. Go back to the Odyssey Client Manager and add the Client Certificate to the User Information section of the user's Profile
  8. Try reseting  TOKEN if doing RSA , EAP-TTLS.

NOTE:    If you don't define a user for SecureID and connect with Odyssey, SBR will register error 8488.
