« Go Back

Information

Last Modified Date8/1/2015 9:06 AM
Synopsis
The request for credentials window redisplays even after entering the correct information.  Is mixed authentication (Basic Auth and NTLM) supported?

Problem or Goal
Can a Security Access device support mixed authentication of both Basic Authentication and NTLM?

For example:
Assume:
  • http://www.acme.org/customers/support  is protected by NTLM
  • http://www.acme.org/customers/sales is protected by Basic Authentication
  • Same company, different content sections on the same portal
  • Each section is managed by different teams.

Symptom:
When a user accesses the support portal via Pulse Connect Secure (PCS) web access feature set and then attempts to navigate to the sales portal a Basic Auth Intermediation Alert is displayed to enter credentials. After submitting credentials the same intermediation alert is displayed in a loop.
Cause
Solution
The web access feature set does not support mixed authentication. We recommend to use either Basic or NTLM Authentication but not both.
