KB16874 - Support of PCoIP Protocol on VMware View 4.0 through Secure Access Appliance

VMware View Introduces support for PC-over-IP (PCoIP) in release 4.0. The VMware View admin can publish the Virtual desktop session using PCoIP.

PCS version 6.5 interoperates with VDI (Virtual Desktop infrastructure) products, including VMware’s View Manager and Citrix’s XenDesktop, enabling administrators to deploy virtual desktops alongside the SA series of SSL VPN devices. This allows the PCS administrator to configure centralized remote access policies for users who access their virtual desktops.

When users launch the VD session the following alerts appears:

"Failed to the launch this desktop. Please contact your administrator."
 

The Virtual Desktop feature on the PCS device does not support PCoIP

Workaround:

Under the VMware View Manager console, select the VM host of interest and enable the option  "Allow user to override default protocol" (shown in the screenshot below).  If this option is enabled, RDP is automatically chosen as fallback protocol.




Additional Information:

As a workaround, access the resource via a client access mechanism (VPN Tunneling)

• PCoIP requires both TCP and UDP, a layer 3 VPN tunnel (NC/Pulse) is required for full functionality through PCS device.

PCoIP will not work through JSAM & WSAM.
