Synopsis
How to redirect/stop rewriting external links from the email in OWA
Problem or Goal
When accessing OWA through Core Access, by default PCS rewrites any link from the email. This article explains how to bypass the Internet URL in OWA from default rewriting.
Cause
Solution
Create a selective rewriting policy by navigating to Resource Policies > Web > Rewriting.  Create a policy as below:
  • Provide the name for the policy.
  • Set the Resource as  *:*/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?*   (without quotes)  Note:  If the exchange directory is different based on the server version, then change it accordingly. For example, *:*/owa/redir.asp?* will be the correct path for 2010 exchange server.
  • Choose the action as “Don’t rewrite: Redirect to target webserver”   Note:  If this policy results in redirecting the request to exhange server when you click on the web link from email, please change the action to “Don’t rewrite: Redirect to target webserver”  which should resolve the issue.

If there are any Intranet links, then those will also be unrewritten and hence may result in “page cannot be displayed” or HTTP 404 errors if the user is accessing remotely.  To avoid this, create one more selective rewriting policy as follows for Intranet links:
  • Provide the name for the policy.
  • Set the Resource as  *:*/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?*test.juniper.net*  (without quotes)
  • Choose the action as “Rewrite content (auto-detect content type)”

Where “test.pulsesecure.net” is the one of the Intranet links. You can add all the Intranet resources in a similar manner in a single policy; and in a separate line and move this policy above the first policy.
