« Go Back

Last Modified Date7/31/2015 6:31 PM
This article describes an issue with exporting the configuration where it fails with 'Error AD-4 Configuration export failed'.
Problem or Goal
When exporting the system or user configuration via Maintenance > Import/Export > Import/Export Configuration or Import/Export User, the following error occurs:

The issue can also manifest itself with other symptoms in addition to the AD-4 export error, such as but not limited to:

  • Unable to upload new ESAP packages
  • Failure to archive or save logs
  • Failure to generate system snapshots
  • Receiving a 'The page you requested could not be found' error when clicking Roles

To determine if the other issue(s) are due to this problem export the configuration and see if the AD-4 error is reported.   If the configuration exports correctly then please contact Pulse Secure support for further assistance.

This issue will occur due to an internal temporary storage area being filled up. In most case, this issue originates in a previous failure or incomplete archiving of configuration files or system logs to an external archiving system, enabled under MaintenanceArchiving.
Although this issue is rare, the following workaround should be applied:
  • Restart services by going to System > Platform - Restart Services.
  • When services are restarted, a brief interruption of service occurs. This operation should be scheduled during a maintenance window or when there is less user activity. In a cluster setup, services are simultaneously restarted on all cluster members.
  • After the services are restarted, the export of the configuration should be successful.  If any other symptoms persist please contact Pulse Secure support for assistance.
