KB24013 - [Sign In Pages] All realm policies get evaluated even though the user has selected a single realm

« Go Back

Last Modified Date8/2/2015 9:54 PM
This article describes the issue of all realm policies being evaluated, even though the administrator has selected the User types the realm name option in the sign-in policies page and the user has selected a particular realm.

Problem or Goal
For example:
  • User has configured Realm A without any host checker policy.
  • Additionally, the user has configured Realm B and Realm C with a Host Checker policy enabled at the realm level.
  • Go to Authentication > Signing In > Sign-In-Policies, select the URL, select User types the realm name in the Authentication Realm section, select only Realm A from the drop-down menu, and click Save Changes.
  • When the user logs on, the Host checker policy will be evaluated, as all realms are selected in Authentication Realm; even though the user has selected a single realm from the drop-down menu.

  • When the User types the realm name option is enabled, all the realm policies are evaluated.
  • Alternatively, you can configure an individual sign-in URL or select the User picks from a list of authentication realms option; so that only the policies for the configured realm are evaluated.
  • When logging on to PCS, it will prompt the user to select the Realm from the drop-down menu; the user can select the required realm and proceed further:
