Important!
When migrating from SA or MAG to PSA device, please refer to
KB40391 - SA/MAG Series to PSA Series Hardware Upgrade Guide.
When migrating from a SA-x000 / SA-x500 to a MAG device, the recommendation is to use the binary import and export functionality. Prior to the migration, ensure the following are true:
- Secure Access (SA) device is running at least OS version 6.1R1
- MAG device is running on an equal or higher OS version than the SA device
IMPORTANT: If the SA device is running a higher version than the MAG device, the binary import will fail.
To export the binary configurations from the SA device:
- In the admin console, select Maintenance > Import/Export > Configuration.
- Under Export, enter a password if you’d like to password-protect the configuration file.
- Click Save Config As to save the file. By default, the filename will be system.cfg
- In the admin console, select Maintenance > Import/Export > User Accounts.
- Under Export, enter a password if you’d like to password-protect the configuration file.
- Click Save Config As to save the file. By default, the filename will be user.cfg
To import the binary configurations on the MAG device
- In the admin console, select Maintenance > Import/Export > Configuration.
- Specify whether you want to import the Secure Access Service certificate. Note: The certificate is not imported unless you check the Import Device Certificate(s)? checkbox.
- Select Import everything except network settings and licenses — This option imports all configuration settings except the network, cluster and license settings.

- Browse to the configuration file, which is named system.cfg by default.
- Enter the password you specified for the file. If you did not specify a password before exporting the file, then leave this field blank.
- Click Import Config.

- In the admin console, select Maintenance > Import/Export > User Accounts.
- Browse to the configuration file, which is named user.cfg by default.
- Enter the password you specified for the file. If you did not specify a password before exporting the file, then leave this field blank.
- Click Import Config.
