KB40157 - "Failed to connect to (PCS_URL) error 110" with Pulse Desktop Client (Linux)

This article describes an issue when attempting connecting with Pulse Desktop Client (Linux), ncsvc.log will state "failed to connect to (PCS_URL) error 110".

When attempting to connect with Pulse Desktop Client (Linux), the end user will see the following error messages:

ncsvc[p6314.t6314] DSInet.info IVE host XXX.XX.XXX.XX resolved to XXX.XX.XXX.XX, port 443 (dsinet.cpp:311)
ncsvc[p6314.t6314] DSInet.error failed to connect to (XXX.XX.XXX.XX) error 110 (dsinet.cpp:383)
ncsvc[p6314.t6314] dsclient.error unable to open URL: (https://XXX.XX.XXX.XX) with error -7 (dsclient.cpp:299)
ncsvc[p6314.t6314] ncapp.error Failed to authenticate with IVE. Error 2 (ncsvc.cpp:253)

The issue occurs due to a Pulse Desktop Client (Linux) prematurely closing the tcp connection.

To resolve this problem, please upgrade to Pulse Desktop client 8.1R8 / 8.2R2 and above.
