KB40474 - Suppress Pulse Secure Application Launcher (PSAL) dialog/prompt post successful MSI Installation

« Go Back

Last Modified Date3/14/2017 7:11 PM
This article describes an issue where the suppression switch does not work during the MSI installation or upgrade.
Problem or Goal
When the administrator pushes the Pulse Secure Application Launcher (.msi file) using a SCCM server to the end-points using the following command below:
msiexec /i PulseSecureAppLauncher.msi /quiet /q

Execution of above command results in successful installation but yields a  prompt/dialog stating "Pulse Application Launcher has been installed successfully."

User-added image

"PSALInstallFinished" parameter within the installer package is passed from msi to PSAL application at the time of installation. So, irrespective of the mode of installation, the string is passed to PSAL and the pop up dialog opens up
To resolve this issue, execute the command below during a fresh install of PSAL.
msiexec /i PulseSecureAppLauncher.msi /quiet /qn PSAL_SMS_PUSH=1

Note: This option works for a FRESH installation.

For upgrading PSAL use this command to suppress the pop up.
    msiexec /i PulseSecureAppLauncher.msi /quiet /qn PSAL_UPGRADE=1

Note: This option only works when upgrading PSAL using the stand alone MSI found on the PCS or PPS appliance.
