Synopsis
This article describes an issue where HTML5 RDP Access fails when Network Level Authentication is selected as an encryption option under HTML5 Bookmark settings.
Problem or Goal
When Network Level Authentication (NLA) is configured for an HTML5 Access bookmark, end user may not be able to connect to the backend resource.

Cause
This issue occurs when one of the following conditions are true:
  • Single Sign-On (SSO) is not configured for the HTML5 Access bookmark.  SSO is required when connecting using Network Level Authentication with HTML5 Access.
  • Backend is configured with Standard RDP (Non-NLA)
When NLA is disabled at the backend:

Encryption level configured for HTML5 bookmarkBackend server setting Result
Network Level Authenication  NLA disabled in backendHTML5 Access Doesn't work
Allow server to chooseNLA disabled in backendHTML5 Access Doesn't work
TLS encryption          NLA disabled in backendHTML5 Access works fine
Standard RDP           NLA disabled in backendHTML5 Access works fine

Solution
To resolve this issue, confirm if Single Sign On is configured.
  1. Login to the PCS Admin UI
  2. Navigate to Users > Resource Profiles > HTML5 Access
  3. From the list of Resource Profiles, find the corresponding profile name and select the hyperlink under the bookmark column.
  4. Under Authentication - Single Sign On, configure Username and Password.
  5. Click Save Changes.
If configuring Single Sign On is not an option, then Standard RDP can be used as an encryption option under HTML5 Bookmark configuration.  Under Other Setting, change Encryption to Standard RDP Encryption.
