This article describes an issue where saving a VPN Connection Profile with an automatic proxy URL configured with a custom port fails with "Error: Failed to save policy. Reason: Server address is required" message.
Problem or Goal
When a VPN Connection Profile is configured with an automatic proxy URL that contains a custom port (For instance : http://proxy_url:4713/default.pac), the connection profile cannot be saved due to the following error:

Cause
This issue is due to URL validation failure in PCS Versions 8.3R3 and 8.3R4..

Solution
This issue is fixed in PCS 8.3R5 and PCS 9.0R1.

The following workaround can be implemented if you are running an affected version.
  1. Create the VPN Connection Profile with the Automatic PAC File URL, but omit the custom port from the URL.
(i.e. Instead of http://proxy_url:4713/default.pac set the URL as: http://proxy_url/default.pac)
  1. Save the Connection Profile.
  2. Navigate to Maintenance > Import/Export > XML Import/Export > Export.
  3. Click on the Resources Policies drop down box.
  4. Under VPN Tunneling select Connection Profiles.
  5. Select the appropriate Connection Profile.
  6. At the bottom of the page click Export.
  7. In the export XML file, modify the URL to include the custom port (with a semicolon after the host name).
  8. Import by the modified XML file by navigating to Maintenance > Import/Export > XML Import/Export > Import.
  9. Click Choose File and browse for the modified XML file.
  10. Click Import.
  11. Verify that the Connection Profile has been updated.
