Synopsis
This article describes how to use an evaluation license for PSA-V virtual appliances.
Problem or Goal
What license(s) should be used to evaluate a PSA-V appliance?
Cause
Solution
  • PSAxxxx-V evaluation license is included in the CONSEC eval license.
  • Installing a CONSEC-EVAL-xW license on a PSA-V virtual appliance will allow evaluation of the appliance for the specified time period AND enable all 8 cores so that the virtual appliance performs like a PSA7000-V.
Note: If the virtual appliance does not have 8 CPU cores provisioned then LIC31562 critical warning messages will be generated in the Event log.

As per KB43714 to permanently license a PSA-V virtual appliance the following licenses must be installed:
  • A core PSAxxxx-V-xYR to enable CPU cores and allow CONSEC licenses to be applied
  • A  user license CONSEC-xxU-xYR to enable concurrent users
