Problem or Goal
MacOS High Sierra users are able to play audio on YouTube using Safari 11 browser but there is no sound through Safari 11 browser when accessing YouTube via HTML5 RDP bookmarks.
Safari 11 has specific features built-in that by default, only allow audio to played on specific Websites. YouTube is one site that is pre-configured to allow sound through Safari 11, other Websites are not automatically allowed and will need to be added.
Follow the steps below to allow sound on Websites accessed via HTML5 bookmarks from Safari 11:
Sign into the VPN and click any HTML5 RDP bookmark.
From the Menu bar click Safari > Settings for this Website.
This will bring up a window that allows you to toggle site-specific preferences, including auto-playing videos.
From the Auto-Play drop-down menu select Allow All Auto-Play
To review all configured sites in Safari's preferences click Safari > Preferences from the menu bar.
From here the audio settings can be modified for all configured sites.
