Synopsis
This article describes an issue where the Pulse Desktop Client takes around 1 minute to connect on macOS Mojave 10.14.5 and above.
Problem or Goal
This issue occurs when all conditions are true:
  • Running macOS Mojave 10.14.5 and above
  • Pulse Desktop Client (PDC) is running 9.0.1 and above or 9.1.1 and above.
  • Traffic Enforcement (TE) is enabled (Under User Role > VPN Tunneling > Options)
This issue does not affect:
  • Pulse Desktop Client 5.3RX and below
  • macOS High Sierra (10.13) and below
Cause
This issue occurs due to kernel extension (KEXT) is taking longer than expected to load.
Solution
To resolve this issue, upgrade to the following release:
  • Pulse Desktop Client 9.1.3.1313
  • Pulse Desktop Client 9.0.6 (Tentative for December 2019)

Workaround:
  • Disable traffic enforcement can used as temporary workaround
  • Rolling back to Pulse Desktop Client 5.3RX and below
