Synopsis

Updating Network Type Setting for Clustering results in the message of "Global Static IP Pool VPN Connection Profile Configuration is not supported in Active-Active Configuration-Only WAN Cluster"

This article describes an issue where changing or updating the network type for clustering will result in the error message of "Global Static IP Pool VPN Connection Profile Configuration is not supported in Active-Active Configuration-Only WAN Cluster"
Problem or Goal
After changing the Network Type option for clustering, the following error message will appear:
Global Static IP Pool VPN Connection Profile Configuration is
not supported in Active-Active Configuration-Only WAN Cluster
Cause
This error occurs as node-specific IP pools are required for Active / Active Configuration-Only WAN Cluster.
Solution
To resolve this problem, the global IP Pool will need to be divided by the number of nodes in the clusters and configured as a node-specific connection profile.

For example:
In a 3-node cluster, the Global IP Pool is configured for:
  • 192.168.0.1 - 255
  • 192.168.1.1 - 255
  • 192.168.2.1 - 255
Instead of configuring a global IP Pool for the cluster, there will be three (3) different profiles for each node:
  • Node 1 = 192.168.0.1 - 255
  • Node 2 = 192.168.1.1 - 255
  • Node 3 = 192.168.2.1 - 255

To configure as a node-specific connection profile, perform the following steps:
  1. Login to the Admin console
  2. Navigate to Users > Resource Policies > Connection Profiles
User-added image
  1. Select the specific node name from the Show profiles that apply to drop-down menu
User-added image
  1. Click Update
  2. Click New Profile
  3. Create a new connection profile with the specific IP Pool for following node.
  4. Click Save Changes
  5. Repeat Step 3 by selecting the additional nodes
