Configuring the VMWare vSwitch in Standard Configuration
vSwitch:
On the vSwitch, set the following:
- Navigate to Host > Configuration > Networking > vSwitch > Properties
- Click Ports > Portgroup > Edit
- Click the General tab
- Set the VLAN ID to 4095.
Note: A VLAN ID of 4095 represents all trunked VLANs. |
PCS:
On the PCS, set the following:
- The internal port can have the default VLAN field empty.
- Create the VLAN interfaces needed.
Physical Switch:
On the Physical Switch, set the following:
- Physical port connected to switch should be in trunk mode accepting all VLANS specified in PCS.
Configuring the VMWare vSwitch in Distributed Configuration
vSwitch:
On the vSwitch, set the following:
- Port should be in trunk mode with allowed VLAN IDs.
Note: VLAN ID 4095 is not allowed for distributed mode |
PCS:
On the PCS, set the following:
- On PCS, create the VLAN interface.
- Internal port must have a default VLAN configured. All traffic should be tagged leaving interfaces.
Physical Switch:
On the Physical Switch, set the following:
- Physical port connected to switch should be in trunk mode accepting all VLANS specified in PCS.
