KB44629 - Predefined Operating System (OS Check) for macOS Big Sur fails

Synopsis
This article describes an issue where endpoints running macOS 11.0 and above fail to pass a host checker policy for Predefined: Operating System rule.
Problem or Goal
When a Predefined Rule: OS Check rule is enforced for macOS Big Sur and endpoint has upgraded to macOS Big Sur 11.0 and above, Host Checker policies will fail to pass compliance check.
Cause
The issue occurred due to method to obtain software version from macOS was reported incorrectly.
Solution
To resolve this issue, please perform the following steps:
  • If end users are using the web browser to launch Host Checker (standalone), please upgrade Pulse Connect Secure 9.1R10 and above.
  • If end user are using Pulse Desktop Client only, please upgrade Pulse Desktop Client 9.1.10 and above
  • If both Host Checker (standalone) and Pulse Desktop Client are utilized, then both Pulse Desktop Client and Pulse Connect Secure need to be upgrade to 9.1R10 and above.


Workaround:

Recommendation is to disable OS Check for Big Sur endpoints.
