Synopsis
This article describes the Implications of Enabling Host Header Validation in PCS/PPS 9.1R10
Problem or Goal
When Host Header Validation is enabled on the PCS/PPS (System -> Configuration -> Security -> Miscellaneous), the following issues occur irrespective of the End-Point Pulse Client Version.
  1. Pulse Desktop Client (Windows/macOS) upgrade gets affected.
  2. Pulse iOS Clients cannot establish a connection to Pulse Connect Secure.
  3. Rewriter Access via Bookmark on Android devices will fail (When "Selective Rewriting" is enabled on the Role).
Cause
Solution
These issues will be fixed from the following client versions.
  1. Pulse Desktop Client version 9.1R11 (Tentative for Jan 2021).
  2. Pulse iOS Client 9.7.0 (Tentative for April 2021)
  3. This is working as Designed (Rewriting via Mobile devices is not supported/qualified - KB44695)
We will update the KB as and when we have new updates.
