Synopsis
This article describes how to verify the Windows Secure Application Manager (WSAM) / Java Secure Application Manager (JSAM) Resource Policies are allowing access to the correct resources.

Solution

If users are unable to access resources with WSAM/JSAM, it is possible that the Resource Policies are not allowing access to the resources.

To verify that the Resource Policies are allowing access to resources

Login to the IVE (Instant Virtual Extranet) as an administrator and navigate to Resource Policies > SAM > Access Control

access

This will display all the resource policies configured on the PCS.  You can filter the policies to display only the policies that apply to a specific role by clicking on the dropdown menu at the top of the list, selecting the role being used and clicking on the update button.

There are two possible types of policies listed.  The first is an autopolicy and the second is a manual policy.  If the policy was created via an autopolicy, it will look something like this:

autopolicy

To verify the autopolicy, click on the name of the policy in the description of the policy.  Verify that the IP address or Hostname of the server is defined correctly, that any ports that will be used are listed in the policy and that the action is set to allow.

If the policy was created via a manual policy, it will look something like this:

manual_policy

To verify the manual policy, select the policy.  Verify that the IP address or Hostname is listed in the resource section and that any ports that will be used are also listed.  The last thing to verify is that the Action is set to allow.
