This support bulletin is for customers that use any of Pulse Connect Secure (PCS) features that are based on Java applets. It contains information about recent software issues and the deprecation of Java plugin support by browsers. This change may impact end-users that rely on these features for their Secure Access requirements.
- Recently, Oracle released Java 8 Update 131. If you are running PCS version 8.1R11.1 (or earlier versions), then JSAM (refer KB40579 ), Premier Java RDP (HOB) and other Java applets (refer KB40580 ) may fail to launch. This issue is resolved. For end-user error messages, cause, solution and workarounds refer to the respective KB article.
- If your PCS gateway device is configured with the highest cipher suite settings for TLS/SSL communication, then Oracle JRE clients may not be able to establish a connection resulting in JSAM, Premier Java RDP (Hob), Java Client delivery (Adaptive delivery) and other Java applets to fail. For end-user error messages, cause, solution and workarounds, refer KB40559.
- Google Chrome and recently Mozilla Firefox browsers have deprecated support for NPAPI plugins resulting in deprecation of Java plugin support. This will impact JSAM, Premier Java RDP (HOB), Java Client delivery (Adaptive delivery) and other Java applet related PCS features. For Chrome related details, refer KB30366. For Firefox related details, refer KB40566.
