KB40916 - Unable to open document using Microsoft Word Online with Sharepoint 2013 using core access

This article describes an issue where end user are unable to open a document using Microsoft Word Online with Sharepoint 2013 using core access.

When the end user attempts to open a word document using Microsoft Word Online with Sharepoint 2013 using core access, the following error message will appear:

Certificate Error

The application experienced an internal error loading the SSL libraries.

When examining the url's via fiddler or httpwatch, the following url structure will occur:

https://XXX.XXXX/Shared%20Documents/Sampledoc.docx

This is incorrectly rewritten and will cause the document load to fail.

This issue occurs due to a software bug.

To resolves this issues, please upgrade to 8.3R3 and above.

Workaround:
