Synopsis
This article provides information how to change the personality between Pulse Connect Secure (PCS), Pulse Policy Secure (PPS) and Pulse One.

Solution
Starting with MAG and PSA devices (excluding PSA7000), Pulse Secure is allowing dual personalities to run either Pulse Connect Secure (PCS) and Pulse Policy Secure (PPS) on one hardware device. With PSA7000 device, Pulse Secure is allowing triple personalities to run either Pulse Connect Secure (PCS), Pulse Policy Secure (PPS) and Pulse One (On-Premise).

During the initial configuration of the MAG or PSA device, the administrator will be prompted to select a specific personality. Once a personality is selected, the administrator will received step-by-step instructions to perform the initial configuration of the device.

If the device is running Pulse Connect Secure (PCS) or Pulse Policy Secure (PPS), the administrator can decide to repurpose the device for a different personality by perform the following steps:
  1. Login to the admin console
  2. Navigate to Maintenance > System > Change Personality
  3. Next to Service package to Install, select the Choose File
  4. Select the PCS or PPS service package to upload
  5. Click Change Now

Note: Changing the personality will require downtime and will cause an interruption in service to active users on the device. Also, this operation will delete the configuration. Pulse Secure recommends to take backup of the configuration before changing the personality.

IMPORTANT! Personality changes are not supported for Pulse One customers on a PSA7000 device.
